Keswick & the Northern Lake District
There is so much to see and do in and around the picturesque market town of Keswick. For those interested in fell walking you will find an endless network of paths with lots of interest and some absolutely breathtaking views. Some of the country's tallest mountains are located nearby including Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn.
Cycling is becoming ever more popular in the Lake District especially when it comes to off road mountain biking at Whinlatter Forest, or road biking over some of the region's outstanding mountain passes including nearby Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter and Kirkstone passes.
Other nearby outdoor activities including Keswick Golf Course, which is a challenging and picturesque 18 hole course. Sailing and canoeing are available on Derwentwater and there is also a Go Ape! Tree Top Adventure park located at Whinlatter Forest.
For the less energetic, you might like to take a cruise across Derwentwater to Borrowdale, or perhaps visit some of the excellent local visitor attractions including the Theatre by the Lake, Honister Slate Mine, Castlerigg Stone Circle, or the Cumberland Pencil Museum.
There is a wealth of good quality places to eat in Keswick including hearty pub meals, fine dining restaurants, plus cuisines from around the world including Italian, Indian, Mexican and Thai restaurants.
